The Scarred Super Virage is an optional boss in the Forbidden Land.

Story[]

The scarred Super Virage presumably is the Super Virage that fought with Kanzas in the final battle of the Dragoon Campaign in Kadessa. Struggling in the battle, Kanzas eventually took the Super Virage with him, destroying it by unleashing a gigantic self-destructing attack.

Despite being massively mutilated, with its head and large parts of its body entirely blown away from Kanzas' selfdestructing attack, the scarred Super Virage awakens when the group visits the Forbidden Land to obtain the Dragon Block staff.

Battle[]

The scarred Super Virage uses ten "lives" to keep itself alive. After using all of these, the scarred Super Virage will heavily damage the entire party with a laser beam attack from its body and subsequently self-destruct. It is possible to destroy the Super Virage before the end of the ten turns, although it has very high HP. Battle prizes and experience are the same whether or not you defeat it before it self-destroys.

Arm:

  • Arm Slap: The Virage hits a party member with his arm, this deals minor damage.

Body

  • Tentacle attack: The Virage wraps a party member up in its arm tentacle, where it squeezes and releases a party member dealing moderate to high damage.
  • Rock fall: The Virage shakes causing rocks to fall from above hitting the party, this deals moderate damage.

Head

  • Energy Blast: Final-attack. When the countdown timer reaches zero, or the Head is killed, the Virage will fire off many laser blasts at the party.

The player can defend for the whole battle and wait until the countdown timer reaches zero. If either body or head are destroyed, it will end the battle.

Trivia[]

  • There is a contradiction between the dialogue before the battle and the cutscene when Rose remembers the final battle of the Dragon Campaign. While the Super Virage is seen at the beginning fighting with Kanzas and being destroyed by the latter's selfdestructing attack, before fighting the Super Virage in the Forbidden Land, Rose states that "it must be the Virage that killed Belzac". However, in the entire cutscene, Belzac is not seen fighting the Super Virage, instead being pierced by the claw of a regular Virage while protecting Shirley from a pillar falling down. It is unknown whether this is merely a possible mixup between Kanzas and Belzac by the developers.
