Mayfil, the Winglies' Death City, where Melbu Frahma's totalitarian state decided where the souls of the dead should go

Mayfil, nicknamed the Death City, is a Limbo to which souls travel when they die, and from which not all souls can leave. Its spectral residents will attack the living on sight.

Mayfil is the former Wingly city of the dead. After its total destruction during the Dragon Campaign, the souls of people and creatures that did not completely die came here. During Wingly rule, Winglies' souls were sent to the "Death City" when they died, so that even the destination of their souls was controlled by Melbu Frahma's totalitarian dictatorship.

Although Rose protests that Mayfil had been shut down after the Dragoon Wars, Mayfil has somehow been activated again, possibly by Melbu Frahma. The souls of Lavitz and the three Dragons Regole, Feyrbrand, and the Divine Dragon now languish here, and the Dragons can be released by killing them a second time. After the encounter with Lavitz, they are gone; the party can only battle the Dragon spirits before then.

This is also where one of the Signet Spheres that seal the Moon are hidden, and would be the last one to be unsealed.

Although it is not directly stated, the game suggests that Zackwell's death frees the souls in Mayfil. The sky previously filled with "swirling souls" has cleared by the time the party goes outside, the soul attracting devices appear to be working in reverse, and of course the dragon spirits are freed, and cannot be fought.

All but one of the monsters within The Death City, Mayfil are darkness-element based monsters, including the boss Zackwell. The Human Hunter is a Non-Elemental enemy.
