Chapter 2: Platinum Shadow[]

Second Visit to Fletz[]

During the second visit of Dart and his group to Fletz, they meet the king together with Fester to ask for permission to enter the Valley of Corrupted Gravity. King Zior seems to be having problems with his eyesight and his memory when first met as he believes that there are multiple Festers when Fester brings Dart and company. He also forgets having heard of the valley before and asks Fester if it was his imagination or had he heard of the valley. Upon being reminded he remembers a young man named Lynn also recently asking permission to enter the valley and believes only daredevils would do so. Nevertheless, he grants Dart and company permission to enter the valley and invites them to spend the night in the Twin Castle.

In the castle, Princess Lisa reveals that six months before, Princess Emille underwent a sudden change of personality. Unlike the people of Fletz and his younger daughter King Zior was actually pleased in the apparent change in attitude of his older daughter. During the dinner the group is invited to, King Zior himself would comment cheerfully on his theory about Emille's sudden hardy appitite being a sign of what happens when a girl turns twenty.

Haa Haa Haa! Isn't she a great eater! It seems when girls become 20 years old they develop quite an appetite! Oh, Fester? Would you introduce our guests to Emille?

Third Visit to Fletz[]

WARNING: Spoilers follow from here.

After the events at the Home of Gigantos, Dart and his group come together to prevent the passing of the Moon Dagger to Princess Emille, about whom Gehrich revealed that she is an imposter. After finding the real Princess Emille sealed inside a picture of her room, Dart and his group interrupt the coming of age ceremony. King Zior holds a speech to the false Princess Emille, and upon the entry of the real princess, the false princess swiftly steals the Moon Dagger from his hands and reveals her true identity.

After Dart and his companions defeat Lenus, making her flee towards Illisa Bay, King Zior readies the Queen Fury for the group to give chase to her.

Fourth Visit to Fletz[]

Although Dart and his group are unsuccessful in retrieving the Moon Dagger, King Zior shows his elaborate gratitude to the group, calling them heroes and thanking them for freeing his country from the bandits and the Sea Dragon. To honor Dart and his companions, he organizes a large feast. During this feast, he witnesses the developing love between Albert and Princess Emille, to which he expresses his heartful approval.

Emille! Well said! The future of Serdio and Tiberoa is shining like the sun!

Chapter 4: Moon & Fate[]

During the events of Disc 4, Caron from Ulara, on behalf of Charle Frahma, brings him the message about the imminent destruction of the world. He prepares a dock for the Queen Fury in the basement of the Twin Castle to transport Dart and his group to Rouge in order for them to attempt to prevent the end of the world. King Zior begs the seven Dragoons to do what they can to save the world.

Personality[]

WARNING: Section contains spoilers.

King Zior appears to be a generous king with a big heart, elegant in his speech and welcoming to guests. However, he is also shown to be somewhat naive, forgetful and careless, to the extent of bringing his entire nation in grave danger, not realizing that his actual daughter was replaced by a double. To the disappointment of his younger daughter Princess Lisa, he was instead happy that his elder daughter became very active. He seems to be oblivious about the bandits of the Gehrich Gang terrorizing his citizen, and it is also pointed out by castle guards that the king is somewhat behaving strangely himself.

However, in other occasions, King Zior is also shown to be a rather thoughtful man, wondering if Lenus had taken on the appearance of his daughter merely to take back the Divine Moon Object for the Winglies. After Dart and his group defeat Lenus and Regole, freeing the country from both the bandits and the Sea Dragon, King Zior makes no compromises in showing his gratitude, celebrating Dart and his companions as heroes, making their story to a folklore that will be passed down within the royal family of Tiberoa, and organizes a large feast for the group. He also explains that the Moon Dagger was a mere tradition and traditions alone do not put smiles on people's faces.

When the group returns to Fletz one more time to go to Rouge, he realizes the seriousness of the situation and puts the fate of the world into the hands of the seven Dragoons. Overall, King Zior, despite shown mostly as cheerful and generous, is a somewhat puzzling and unpredictable personality, making him enigmatic in his very nature.
